What this is
A cinemagraph is a still photo with a small looping motion in one part of it, so the picture looks alive while the rest stays frozen. Cinemagraph moves only the pixels under the mask you paint: a shader on the GPU shifts them with flow, wave, breathe, shimmer, sway or flicker and leaves everything else still. It all runs in your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
How to use it
- Drop a photo on the canvas, or keep the lake sample, whose water is already painted.
- Drag over the picture to paint the part that should move, and switch to Erase to take some back.
- Pick an effect such as flow or breathe, tune its sliders, then record a video or save a frame.

Common questions
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Drag a finger over the photo to paint. Phones and touch screens work on photos up to 1280 pixels on their long side; every effect and export is there.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo, the mask and every video are made on your device and never leave it.
Why is a picture from another tool here?
Pictures you add are kept on this device for every lab tool that takes one, so you need not add them again. Press × on a tile to forget that photo; the lake sample comes back.
