Image glitch guide

Three looks

Each picture below was made in Image glitch from the sample it opens with. The table under each one is the whole recipe; everything not listed stays as the page opens.

Sorted by hue

Waves of colour broken into horizontal streaks and slabs of yellow, green, blue, violet and red
Pixel sort along the rows, by hue, at a threshold of 40.

With hue as the key, the threshold cuts by colour, not by light. Pixels past orange on the colour wheel are sorted and reds stay put, so the rows break into long streaks and slabs.

SettingValue
Sort byHue
Threshold40

Raise Threshold to sort only the blues and violets.

Bright squares shuffled

Waves of colour where the bright parts are cut into a checkerboard of mixed coloured squares
Block sort with 32-pixel squares and a threshold of 90.

The picture is cut into squares 32 pixels wide. Squares brighter than 90 on average are put in order of brightness and laid back into the bright places, dimmest first, row by row.

The dark parts of the waves stay where they were, so the shapes still show through the checkerboard.

SettingValue
EffectsBlock sort
Block size32
Threshold90

Lower Block size for a finer mosaic.

Old tube screen

Waves of colour bowed outward like a curved screen, with black corners and dark edges
CRT warp at full distortion, with a wide colour split and darker edges.

The picture bows outward from the middle. The corners it pulls in from are left black, and the vignette darkens the edges towards them.

Red is taken from a little to the right and blue from a little to the left, so the bands get coloured edges.
