Motion ASCII guide
Keep your work
Everything is made in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. The loupe is never saved. The PNG and the video are standard range (SDR); nothing here is HDR.
| Button | What you get |
|---|---|
| Save frame | The frame on screen as aikizi-motion-ascii-frame.png, at the full size of the grid: 6 pixels per column and 9 per row, so 240 columns make it 1,440 pixels wide, however small it looks on screen. |
| Download video | A video of the grid as aikizi-motion-ascii.mp4 (H.264), with no sound. It runs at the Frame rate you set. |
With your own video, the recording starts from the beginning and runs as long as the clip, up to 60 seconds. With the test pattern, or a video whose length the browser cannot tell, it runs for 6 seconds. It records in real time, so a 60-second clip takes about a minute. See recording limit.
The line under the buttons says Encoding while it records, with a percentage when it is your own video, then Saved and the file size. When it is done, your video goes back to where it was.
The page encodes the frames itself as it draws them, H.264 into an MP4 that opens anywhere. A browser that cannot encode H.264 (Firefox) gets a WebM instead, named by what it really wrote. See WebM and MediaRecorder.
Settings you change while it records show up in the video.
