ASCII art guide
Start
The tool opens with the AIKIZI logo drawn in white ASCII characters, 100 characters wide. The line under Image shows the size of the text and of the picture.
What you need
- A current browser. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all work. No GPU is needed.
- A picture, if you want your own. Any picture your browser can open works.
Your first result
- Open ASCII art. The logo is already drawn.
- Press Image A to open a picture, or drop one on the frame. Or press Try the sample.
- Pick a set under Characters and a colour under Color.
- Move Width (chars): more characters keep more detail. Move Font size to fit the text in the frame.
- At the top of the panel, press Copy text, or save it with Save .txt, Save PNG or Save HTML.
Good to know
- When the text is bigger than the frame, it scrolls inside the frame.
- The sliders glide to a new value, and the text redraws as they move.
- Font size, Line height and Letter spacing change how the text looks, not which characters are picked.
- Copied text and the .txt file hold only the characters, with no colour. Paste them where a monospace font is used, or the columns will not line up.
- Your picture is kept on this device, and every lab tool that takes a picture opens with it, until you press × on its tile.
- On a phone the controls sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap the bar to open them.
