Topographic flow guide

Three looks

Each picture below was made in Topographic flow from its two sample pictures, with a preset and Replay, and caught about halfway from A to B. The table lists the controls used. A run moves fast, so a picture you save will be a different moment.

Dune rings

A few thick, bright bands of colour winding over a softly shaded picture of one figure turning into another
Dune rings halfway from A to B: a few thick, bright bands over a softly shaded picture.

Press Dune rings under Presets, then press Replay at the top of the panel.

Only 7 levels and wide lines give a few broad bands, and heavy smoothing keeps them round. Strong ease out does most of the change in the first moments, so it feels quick.

Move Line width to the left to turn the bands into thin rings.

Copper plate

Many thin, vivid contour lines over a dark, strongly shaded picture of one figure turning into another

Press Copper plate under Presets, then press Replay at the top of the panel.

Base dim is low, so the picture sits dark, and the strongest preset shading makes the slopes stand out. The thin lines carry colours pushed well past the picture's own.

Raise Base dim to show more of the picture behind the lines.

Tidal

Medium coloured contour lines over a shaded picture where one figure is turning into another
Tidal halfway from A to B: a medium set of lines moving far while one map turns into the other.

Press Tidal under Presets, then press Replay at the top of the panel.

At flow 3 the lines move three levels while the ground turns from A into B, and at 3.4 seconds it is the slowest preset.

Set Flow to 0 to see the ground change with the lines standing still on it.
