Word Grain guide
Start
The room opens on Elder and builds it once, tone by tone, while you watch.
What you need
- A recent browser on a computer or a phone.
- A picture, if you want your own: a photo, a painting, a logo or a drawing. A clear subject in strong light reads best.
Your first result
- Open Word Grain. Elder builds itself.
- Press Your picture, drop a picture on the page or paste one; or press Try a sample, or →, for the next sample.
- Type your words in the box under Words, split by commas or lines, in any language; or pick a set under Sets.
- Shape the grain with Rows, Smallest tag and Gap, and the colour with a palette, Tones and Ground.
- Press Picture for a PNG, SVG for print, or Take for the build as an MP4.
Good to know
- Hover the picture to read the words under the pointer through the loupe.
- Each sample opens with its own rows and tones; Reset grain and Reset colour take a section back to how the picture opened.
- A title is off until you choose Top or Bottom under Title.
- Your words and the look stay on this device for your next visit. A picture you add stays only for this visit.
- On a phone the controls sit in a sheet at the bottom of the screen, and the frame carries its own row of buttons.
