Lightning reveal guide

Three looks

Each picture below was made in Lightning reveal from its two sample pictures, with a preset and Replay, and caught while the strike was moving. The table lists what was pressed. A strike moves fast, so a picture you save will be a different moment.

Gold crack

Gold and white branches running from the crown down one side of a gold-haloed figure, opening a narrow band of a second picture along them
Gold crack partway through: a few gold branches open a band of picture B down one side.

Press Gold crack under Presets, then Replay at the top of the panel.

A high branch eta and a low fork chance give a few long branches instead of a bush, and the wide core opens a broad band of picture B along each one, like a mended crack in pottery.

Raise Core width towards 4 for a wider crack.

Storm fork

Jagged blue-white lightning over the crown and face of a gold-haloed figure, with a second figure's pale face showing through along the forks
Storm fork partway through: jagged blue forks with picture B between them.

Press Storm fork under Presets, then press Replay at the top of the panel.

A high fork chance splits the strike into many prongs, and high jaggedness bends each one into a zigzag. Strong ease out starts fast, so most of the tree is out in the first moments.

Set Tint to White for a colder, paler storm.

Static lace

A fine, square-stepped web of white lines over the crown and face of a gold-haloed figure, with a second picture showing through along it
Static lace partway through: a fine white web with picture B showing through it.

Press Static lace under Presets, then press Replay at the top of the panel.

7800 thin pieces cling to the edges of the picture, and with little jaggedness they keep the square steps of the grid the tree grows on, so the strike reads as fine lace. The long afterglow keeps the branches behind the front lit.

Raise Jaggedness to hide the square steps and turn the lace into cracks.
