WebGPU

The newer browser path to the GPU: faster, and able to run general computing too.

See it in Woven Wind. Open Woven wind in a browser with WebGPU, such as Chrome, and drag across the rug.

In plain words

WebGPU is the newer way for a web page to use the graphics chip, after WebGL. It works the way modern games do, wasting less time between the page and the chip. It can also run compute shaders, which use the chip for sums that are not drawing, such as moving a million threads. That is how a rug of many thousands of moving fibres can run in a page. Newer browsers support it, and older ones do not.
