Help
Short answers to what goes wrong most often.
The frame says the tool needs WebGL 2, or float render targets
The water runs on your GPU with WebGL 2, and it keeps its heights in float textures, which the browser must be able to draw into. If either is missing, the frame says which one.
Update the browser, or turn on hardware acceleration in its settings, then reload. Another current browser may have what this one lacks.
The water is still
The rain may be off: the Frosted preset turns it off. Turn on Rain on, or tap and drag across the picture.
Low Damping also settles waves quickly. Move it closer to 1 so they last longer.
It is slow
Lower Steps per frame and the rain Rate. A smaller picture also helps, though the water never runs above 768 pixels on the long side.
What is the difference between a tap and a drag?
A tap or click drops one ripple, sized by Drop radius and pushed by Drop force.
Pressing and dragging adds a smaller, softer ripple at each point you pass, so you draw a trail of waves.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap or drag with a finger. The picture does not scroll the page while you touch it; scroll from outside it. The water runs at the same size as on a computer, at most 768 pixels on the long side.
How big can my picture be?
Any size opens. The water and the saved PNG are fit to 768 pixels on the long side, so a big picture comes out smaller. The line under Image shows both sizes.
A preset did not change the tint colour
Presets set how strong the tint is, not its colour. Pick the colour in Glass tint, and it stays when you change presets.
The picture did not load
If the page says the file could not be read as an image, the browser cannot open that file. Files that are not pictures are ignored. Save it as a PNG or JPEG and try again.
Copy did nothing
Some browsers do not let a page put a picture on the clipboard. Use Save PNG instead.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. The picture is drawn on your device and never leaves it.
Why is a picture from another tool here?
Pictures you add are kept on this device for every lab tool that takes one, so you need not add them again. Press × on a tile to forget that picture; the sample comes back.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
The tool has none of its own. Anywhere in the lab, Ctrl K, or Cmd K on a Mac, opens the list of all tools.
