Liquid glass guide
Start
The tool opens with a sample picture of soft coloured circles on a dark ground, with rain already falling on it.
What you need
- A browser with WebGL 2 that can draw into float textures. Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari can.
- A picture, if you want your own. Bright shapes and clear edges show the bending best.
Your first result
- Open Liquid glass. The sample is there and the rain is falling.
- Press Image A to open a picture, or drop one on the frame. Or keep the sample.
- Tap or click the picture to drop a stone in the water. Press and drag to draw a trail of smaller ripples.
- Pick a look under Presets, or move the sliders.
- Press Save PNG at the top of the panel to keep the frame as liquid-glass.png, or Copy to put it on the clipboard.
Good to know
- The water keeps moving, so the PNG is the frame on screen at the moment you press. It is the size of the simulation: at most 768 pixels on the long side.
- Copy puts the same picture on the clipboard, where the browser allows it. If it fails, the page says so; use Save PNG instead.
- The PNG is standard range (SDR); none of it is HDR.
- Clear waves flattens the water and keeps every setting. Reset puts the settings back too.
- Turn off Rain on to make ripples only by hand.
- Your picture is kept on this device, and every lab tool that takes a picture opens with it, until you press × on its tile.
- On a phone the controls sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap the bar to open them.
