Help

Short answers to what goes wrong most often.

A point will not move

It is probably pinned: pinned points are red with a white cross. Double-click it, or double-tap it on a touch screen, to free it.

While Animate is on, the animation sets every free point each moment, so a drag does not stay. Turn Animate off to bend by hand.

How do I reset or pin a point on a phone?

Hold your finger still on a point for half a second to put it back where it started. Tap a point twice quickly to pin it or free it. A finger catches a point from a little further away than a mouse does.

My picture came out smaller

Big pictures are fit to 800 pixels on their long side before they are bent, on every screen. The line under Image shows both sizes. The PNG and the video are that fitted size.

My bends are gone

Picking a grid size, or a new picture, starts a fresh grid and clears the bends, pins and undo steps. Turning Animate off also puts the free points back. A preset replaces your bends; Undo takes a preset back.

The edges are see-through or cut off

The canvas stays the size of your picture. Pull points inward and the edge is left empty, which is see-through in the PNG. Push them outward and that part falls outside the frame.

The video does not move

The video holds only what changes on the canvas while it records. Turn on Animate first, or drag points while it records.

Record video says it is not supported

Recording a canvas depends on the browser, and support varies: browsers differ in which formats they record, and some cannot record at all. If yours cannot, save a PNG, or try another current browser.

Copy did nothing

Some browsers do not let a page put a picture on the clipboard. Use Save PNG instead.

The picture did not load

If the line under Image says the image could not be read, the browser cannot open that file. Save it as a PNG or JPEG and try again.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. The picture is bent on your device and never leaves it.

Why is a picture from another tool here?

Pictures you add are kept on this device for every lab tool that takes one, so you need not add them again. Press × on a tile to forget that picture; the sample comes back.

Is this the same as Photoshop's puppet warp?

Close: both lay a mesh over the picture, let you pin parts and drag the rest. Photoshop builds the mesh from the layer's outline; here it is a regular grid you pick, and it runs in the browser with nothing uploaded.

Are there keyboard shortcuts?

The tool has none of its own. Anywhere in the lab, Ctrl K, or Cmd K on a Mac, opens the list of all tools.
