Mesh warp guide
Start
The tool opens with a sample picture of soft coloured circles and a 6 × 6 grid of green points on it.
What you need
- A current browser. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all draw it.
- A picture, if you want your own. Any picture the browser can open works; big ones are fit to 800 pixels on their long side.
Your first result
- Open Mesh warp. The sample is already there with its grid.
- Press Image A to open a picture, or drop one on the frame. Or keep the sample.
- Drag a green point. The picture bends, and the points near it follow.
- With a mouse, double-click a point to pin it, and right-click a point to put it back. With a finger, double-tap to pin, and hold still on a point for half a second to put it back.
- Open Actions and press Save PNG to keep it as mesh-warp.png.
Good to know
- A pinned point turns red with a white cross. It cannot be dragged, and drags, presets and Animate all leave it where it is. Pin it again to free it.
- Moved points and the grid lines next to them turn amber. While you drag, a dashed line shows where the point started.
- Undo steps back one change at a time, up to 50 changes.
- The grid and points never appear in the PNG, the copy or the video.
- Your picture is kept on this device, and every lab tool that takes a picture opens with it, until you press × on its tile.
- On a phone the controls sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap the bar to open them.
