Painterly flow guide
Start
The tool opens with two sample pictures, A and B, and the Broad oil preset. Picture A shows already painted, and B paints in is on. The panel sits beside the picture.
What you need
- A current browser with WebGL 2. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all have it.
- Two pictures of your own, if you want them. Any image the browser can open works; the samples are there until you swap them.
Your first result
- Open Painterly flow. Picture A is shown as a painting. Move Brush size to see the daubs grow or shrink.
- Pick another preset under Presets, such as Swirl comb. The painting changes at once.
- Tap the picture again to paint A back in. To keep a still painting of picture A alone, turn off B paints in under Sliders.
- Tap the picture, or press Replay at the top of the panel. The brush swells, the painting of A turns into the painting of B, and the brush settles. See paint in.
- At the top of the panel, press the Image A and Image B tiles to pick your own two pictures, or drop two at once.
- Press Save PNG for a still, or Record video to keep a run.
Good to know
- Every preset keeps B paints in on.
- A tap during a run does nothing; wait for it to finish. Replay always starts again at once.
- Moving any control takes the highlight off the preset.
- The frame takes the shape of picture A. Picture B is stretched to that shape, so two pictures of the same shape look best.
- On a phone the controls sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap the bar to open them.
