Portrait relight guide
Three looks
Each picture below was made in Portrait relight from its two sample pictures, with a preset and Replay, and caught while the light was moving. The table lists the buttons pressed. A run moves fast, so a picture you save will be a different moment.
Bronze idol
Press Bronze idol under Presets, then Replay at the top of the panel.
Metallic at 0.85 tints the shine with the picture's own colours, and shininess 60 keeps it to small spots, so raised detail reads like cast metal. The light starts higher than Raking stone's and turns a quarter of the way round.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Presets | Bronze idol |
| Load and save | Replay |
Move Metallic to 0 to see the same shine in white.
Candle orbit
Press Candle orbit under Presets, then Replay at the top of the panel.
The light sits low, so each bump throws a shadow, and it goes almost all the way round the picture in 3 seconds, the longest run of any preset. Halfway it has come round to the left. Metallic at 0.6 tints the shine with the picture's own colours.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Presets | Candle orbit |
| Load and save | Replay |
Raise Key elevation to lift the light and soften the relief.
Sweep cut
Press Sweep cut under Presets, then Replay at the top of the panel.
The wipe switch is on, so the run crosses from A to B. Both pictures are lit by the same light, and a bright line rides the front of the band. The band travels towards the light and turns as the light turns.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Presets | Sweep cut |
| Load and save | Replay |
Press Replay once more after the run ends to carry B back into A.
