Portrait relight guide
Start
The tool opens with two sample pictures, A and B, and the Raking stone preset. You see picture A, lit from one side. The picture fills the frame; the panel sits beside it.
What you need
- A current browser with WebGL. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all have it.
- One or two pictures of your own, if you want them. Any image the browser can open works; the samples are there until you swap them. It does not look for faces, so any picture can be relit.
Your first result
- Open Portrait relight and tap the picture anywhere. The key light circles the picture and stops where the run ends.
- Press a preset under Presets, such as Bronze idol, then press Replay at the top of the panel to watch its light move.
- Press Sweep cut, then tap the picture. A band of light crosses the frame and leaves picture B behind it. Tap again to go back to A.
- At the top of the panel, press the Image A and Image B tiles to pick your own pictures, or drop two at once.
- Press Save PNG for a still, or Record video to keep one full run.
Good to know
- Where you tap does not matter: the light's path comes from the sliders. A tap during a run does nothing; Replay always starts again at once.
- Moving any slider takes the highlight off the preset. When no run is playing, the frame shows the change at once.
- The frame takes the shape of picture A. Picture B is stretched to that shape, so two pictures of the same shape look best.
- On a phone the controls sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap the bar to open them.
