Style DNA guide
Start
The tool opens with a sample pair already loaded and scored: image A on the left, image B on the right, the radar and the overall similarity below them.
What you need
- A current browser. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all work.
- Two pictures on your device, in any format your browser can open, such as JPEG, PNG or WebP. None are needed to try the tool: the sample pair is there.
Your first result
- Open Style DNA. The sample pair is already scored.
- At the top of the panel, press Image A and pick a picture, then Image B. Or pick or drop two files at once: they fill A and B. The scores update as soon as both are in.
- Read the six bars under Analysis and the shape on the radar. A longer bar means the two pictures are more alike on that measure.
- Under Weights, raise the measures you care about and lower the rest. The overall similarity changes as you drag.
- Press Download PNG at the top of the panel, or Copy.
Good to know
- Download PNG saves an 800 × 700 picture named style-dna-comparison.png: both images, the radar, the six scores and the overall similarity. It is a standard range (SDR) picture; nothing here is HDR.
- Copy puts the same picture on the clipboard, where the browser allows it.
- Dropping one file on the frame fills A or B, depending on which half it lands on. Dropping it on a tile fills that tile.
- Your two pictures are kept on this device, and every lab tool that takes a picture opens with them, until you press × on a tile. Swap puts A where B was, and the scores run again.
- The weights change only the overall similarity. The six scores, the bars and the radar stay the same.
- On a phone the controls sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen. Tap the bar to open them, and press Image A and Image B to pick pictures.
