Fractal mirror guide
Help
Short answers to what goes wrong most often.
The frame stays empty, or says it needs WebGL 2
The tool draws with WebGL 2 on your GPU. Update the browser, or turn on hardware acceleration in its settings, then reload.
It is slow
Lower Zoom depth: it sets how many layers are drawn for every pixel. Phones already draw a smaller picture.
The copies look soft or dim
Zoom depth blends layers of copies on top of each other. Lower it for sharp copies, and lower Iteration fade for brighter ones.
I can see seams between the copies
Turn on Mirror, so neighbouring slices and tiles meet edge to edge. A picture whose edges match helps too.
The picture will not move
Movement comes from Auto-rotate, Auto-zoom and Pulse. Turn one of them on.
How big is the saved PNG?
It is the picture as drawn, in the shape of your image: at most 1200 pixels on its long side, and at most 720 on a phone.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Drag with a finger to move the centre. Every mode and preset is there; phones draw a smaller picture.
Copy did nothing
Some browsers do not let a page put a picture on the clipboard. Use Save PNG instead.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. The picture is drawn on your device and never leaves it.
Why is a picture from another tool here?
Pictures you add are kept on this device for every lab tool that takes one, so you need not add them again. Press × on a tile to forget that picture; the sample comes back.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
The tool has none of its own. Anywhere in the lab, Ctrl K, or Cmd K on a Mac, opens the list of all tools.
