Noise & texture guide
Start
The tool opens with Perlin noise already drawn at 512 × 512 pixels.
What you need
- A current browser. The picture is drawn on a plain canvas, so no WebGL or GPU is needed.
- A picture, only if you want to lay the noise over one.
Your first result
- Open Noise & texture. Perlin noise is already there.
- Pick a noise type from the list, or press a button under Presets.
- Move Scale and Octaves, or type a new Seed, and watch the picture change.
- Turn on Seamless tiling and open Tile preview to see four copies side by side.
- Press Download PNG at the top of the panel.
Good to know
- The same seed and settings always give the same picture, so a seed is worth writing down.
- The line under the Noise sliders shows the picture's size and noise type.
- A picture you add is kept on this device, and every lab tool that takes a picture opens with it, until you press × on its tile. Here it is laid over the noise.
- On a phone the noise types and the controls sit in bars on the screen. Tap a bar to open it.
